One of the more popular players in Baltimore Orioles history, Boog Powell was an integral part of the 1966 World Series champions. Powell clubbed 34 home runs, drove in 109 and had a solid .287 batting average, as he finished third in the American League MVP vote behind his teammates Hall of Famers Brooks Robinson and top MVP vote-getter Frank Robinson.

Offered here is a Baltimore Orioles home uniform set worn by Boog Powell during the 1966 season. Manufactured by Wilson, Powell’s size 48 jersey is made of flannel and features “Orioles” across the button-down chest in orange tackle twill on black felt. Powell’s number “26” is sewn on the center left chest in orange tackle twill and black felt. The Wilson size 48 tag is sewn on the base of the left front tail and below the Wilson tag is the team swatch that has “66-3”. The back of the jersey has “POWELL” sewn on in black felt above the number “26”, which is sewn on in orange tackle twill on black felt. The collar and sleeve ends have piping in an orange/black/orange patter with the underarms having vented air-holes. The jersey shows moderate game use and displays toning, giving the jersey a cream-colored look.

The matching pants were also manufacture by Wilson and made of flannel. Orange/black/orange piping runs down the outside of each leg and the Wilson size 40 tag is sewn on the inside back hip. There is a supplemental tag to the right of the Wilson tag that is incomplete, with only the “9” visible. The other number is a “2” for “29”, which would be the inseam. “Powell” is handwritten in black marker to the left of the inseam tag. The pants display moderate game use with one of the belt loops ajar on the lower end. A tremendous game used lot from one of the most popular players in Orioles history from the season in which Baltimore won their first World Series title. These items come with a full LOA from the game used experts at MEARS (314387), who have graded the jersey a near-perfect A9.5 and the pants as AUTHENTIC.
