Offered is a 1966 sterling silver commemorative platter presented to former New York Knicks All-Star Tom Gola by the team. The 16-inch “Sterling by Poole 130 Chippendale” circular platter is engraved at the center with the legend “Tom Gola on His Night March 17, 1966 from the New York Knickerbockers”. The platter is engraved with facsimile signatures of his Knicks teammates including Willis Reed, Dick Van Arsdale and Walt Bellamy as well as Knicks president Ned Irish and Knicks coach Red Holzman. The scalloped edge rises 1-inch from the center. The Knicks lost to the host Philadelphia 76ers on March 17, 1966, 115-106 at Philadelphia’s Convention Hall. As it was the last regular season game of the ’66 NBA season, the host Sixers and the visiting Knicks honored Philly hometown hero Gola with special pre-game ceremonies.
