Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this 1967-68 NABC All-American Award after his second season with the UCLA varsity five. Abdul-Jabbar was far-and-away the best player in college basketball in 1967-68 (and in his two other seasons of varsity ball), averaging 26.2 points and 16.5 rebounds per game while leading the Bruins to the second of their three consecutive NCAA titles. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, was named the Helms Athletic Foundation Player of the Year for the 1967-68 NCAA basketball season.

This NABC All-American Award is displayed in a glassless 12 x 9.5-inch display. A plaque etched with “1967-68 NABC All-American Lew Alcindor U.C.L.A. Presented by The Wheaties Sports Federation” is located on the display next to a raised Wheaties Sports Federation logo. This award comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium (28% if payment is made using a credit card and/or is not paid within 10 days of invoice). Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price to The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
