Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this plaque honoring him as a 1967 NCAA Basketball All-American as voted on by the Basketball Writers Association. Abdul-Jabbar, known then as Lew Alcindor, was one of the greatest college players of all-time, winning three NCAA titles and three Final Four Most Outstanding Player awards. In 1969, Abdul-Jabbar was the winner of the inaugural Naismith College Player of the Year Award. This offered plaque is in the shape of a shield, and measures 12 x 9 inches at its widest dimension. A protruding statuette of a basketball player is attached near the bottom of this plaque. A small metal plaque on this item reads “1967 All American / Lew Alcindor UCLA” with an etched image of the BWA logo. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
