Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this Coach & Athlete Magazine 1967 Player of the Year award on April 3rd, 1967. Kareem, at the time known as “Lew Alcindor”, averaged 29 points and 15.5 rebounds per game in 1966-67 for UCLA, his first season with the varsity basketball squad under John Wooden. Kareem led the Bruins to the first of his three NCAA titles, winning Final Four Most Outstanding Player in the process. This plaque is printed with “This certifies that Lew Alcindor U.C.L.A. has been named Player of the Year in Basketball – 1967 for [the] Pacific Coast”. This plaque was presented to Abdul-Jabbar on April 3rd, 1967. It measures 11 x 13.25 inches. This plaque derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
