Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this Helms Athletic Foundation Southern California Player of the Week award during the 1968-69 NCAA Basketball season. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, won the award for the weeks of December 23rd, January 6th, February 3rd, and February 24th. This certificate is printed with “Helms Athletic Foundation / Southern California / Basketball Writer’s Award / 1968-69 Award / Honoring / Southern California Players Of The Week / University Division”. Additionally, the names of the 16 Player of the Week award winners are printed on the certificate. This document has been signed by Loel Schrader. A brown mark formerly occupied by a Helms Foundation seal is located near the bottom left-hand corner. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
