The Fillmore West was a short lived, but incredibly influential, rock and roll concert venue in San Francisco operated by legendary promoter Bill Graham. The Fillmore, open from 1968 to 1971, hosted some of the greatest acts in not only the Bay Area, but also the world. The Grateful Dead played over 60 concerts at the Fillmore West, with other influential acts such as Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Big Brother and the Holding Company holding court in the hallowed Fillmore.
This poster, which comes in a 35 x 28 ½ inch frame, advertises a nearly two week long set of concerts. Headlined by The Who and the Grateful Dead, artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Albert Collins, Spooky Tooth, and more filled out the lineup. The first acts performed on August 13th, 1968, with the concert series running until the 25th of August. This gorgeous poster is a true piece of music history.
