Former pitcher Jim Bouton had a solid career in the Majors, mostly with the New York Yankees, where he spent seven seasons in the Bronx. Bouton is best remembered for writing his controversial tell-all 1970 book “Ball Four”, which chronicled the daily life of a professional baseball player using actual names.
Offered here is the New York Yankees road gray flannel button-down jersey Bouton wore during the 1968 season where he was 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA in 12 starts. This Wilson size 42 jersey features “NEW YORK” sewn on in front in navy felt. The back of the jersey has Bouton’s number “56” sewn on in navy felt. The “Wilson 42” tag and “Wilson 1968 SET 2” tag are sewn on the bottom front left tail. On the inside back collar is a matching gray patch that has embroidered in navy “Bouton”. The sleeves are the customary short length from that era and the underarms have ventilation holes. This jersey displays moderate game use with some stains. This jersey comes with a LOA from Jim Bouton.
