1968 was the first season in Oakland for the erstwhile Kansas City and Philadelphia Athletics. Although they would be baseball’s first great dynasty of the 1970s, the A’s barely broke .500 in ’68, finishing with an 82-80 record. However, this was the A’s first .500 season since 1952, and a 20-game improvement on their record in ’67. The seeds of the 1970s dynasty had begun to sprout.

This Joseph E. Cronin Official American League baseball has been signed by 21 members of the 1969 A’s, including Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio, a consultant and executive Vice President for the A’s. DiMaggio signed the sweet spot of the ball. Other signatures include Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, Sherm Lollar, Rick Monday, Dave Duncan, Jim Nash, Jim Pagliaroni, Ted Kubiak, Joe Keough, Lew Krausse, Jim Gosger, Ken Sanders, John McNamara, John Donaldson, Danny Cater, Ed Sprague, Warren Bogle, Diego Segui, Dick Green, and Phil Roof. The signatures have been written in blue pen. This ball comes in a holder bearing the A’s logo at the time. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC03363).
