Offered here is a great pre-Big Red Machine bat used by Pete Rose. The bat dates from the 1968 season that he began with a 22-game hitting streak and finished it with a .335 average to take the National League batting title and finished second in voting for MVP. This Hillerich & Bradsby S2 model bat displays excellent use with a crack on the back barrel. As you would expect on the bat of The Hit King, there is checking from repeated ball contact on the back barrel and several ball marks visible. Green and red bat rack paint streaks are in evidence throughout. The model number “S2” is stamped into the knob along with Pete’s number “14” written in black marker. Rose has signed the barrel in blue marker, adding “#4256.” The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13524) for the game use, which has been graded a near-perfect GU 9 and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A19461) for the signature.
