This late-career entry of Mantle was Topps' next-to-last regular season issue featuring the great slugger. The company selected a left-handed batting pose, and surrounded the choice likeness with unforgiving, patterned borders. Here, the beautifully resolved photograph is centered with exceptional visual symmetry, and all of its other attributes conform to a virtually never-seen high standard.
