Presented is a Vince Lombardi signed personal check from February 15, 1968.  Lombardi was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers (1959-1967), where he led the team to three straight and five total NFL Championships in seven years, in addition to winning the first two Super Bowls at the conclusion of the 1966 and 1967 NFL seasons.  In the 1968 season, Lombardi became the team’s General Manager.  Following his sudden death from cancer in 1970, the Super Bowl trophy was named in his honor. The late Pro Football Hall of Fame coach has written the check in black ink on the pale blue with black printing 3 x 6-inch check from the Peoples Bank of Green Bay. The account name is printed as “VINCENT LOMBARDI” on the left top side.  Lombardi has written “Feb 15 (19) 68” in script on the date line, pay to the order of “MRS H LOMBARDI” in script on the next line, “100 00/XXX” on the amount line, “One Hundred – 00/xxx” on the dollars line, and his signature, “Vincent Lombardi,” in the bottom right side.  The front of the check has a red “PAID FEB 26 1968 PEOPLES BANK OF GREEN BAY” cancellation stamp in the center.  The reverse has an endorsement signature, in blue ballpoint, “Mrs. H. Lombardi” and some cancellation stamps, in purple and red, from “FRB CHICAGO.” This item has been encapsulated and authenticated by Beckett Authentication (00011145375).
