Now in his 12th big league season, Frank Howard continued his one-man quest to destroy opposing pitching. Howard had led the AL in home runs the previous year, and would do so again in 1970, but in the summer of 1969 “Hondo” smashed 48 home runs and hit a career-high .296 for the Washington Senators. This Hillerich & Bradsby R43 model bat shows moderate use with a slight crack in the handle. A few prominent ball marks and stitch impressions are found on the left and back barrel and blue bat rack paint streaks are on the right barrel. The model number “R43” is stamped into the knob and Hondo’s number “33” is hand written in faded black marker. A “Frank “Hondo” Howard” signature in black marker tops off this great Big Frank gamer. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B03535) for the game use and a LOA from JSA (Z59962) for the signature.
