Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this Helms Athletic Foundation Basketball Writers University Player of the Year trophy in 1969, his final season with the UCLA Bruins. Abdul-Jabbar, known then as Lew Alcindor, was arguably the best college basketball player of all-time, leading the Bruins to a NCAA title in each of his three seasons in Westwood. This gold bowl trophy measures 4.5 inches tall with a diameter of 8.25 inches. A raised Helms Athletic Foundation seal is located on the trophy, while “Lew Alcindor / Basketball Writers / University / Player of Year / 1969” is etched on the trophy. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
