Presented are the signatures of the 1969 New York Jets team on a white Jets football helmet. The 1968-69 New York Jets finished the NFL regular season 11-3, before heading into the playoffs. In the first round, they beat the Oakland Raiders, 27-23, to advance to Super Bowl III. The Jets, 18-point underdogs prior to kickoff, upset the heavily favored Baltimore Colts, 16-7, at the Orange Bowl in Miami on January 12, 1969. Jets quarterback Joe Namath famously made an appearance three days before the Super Bowl at the Miami Touchdown Club and personally guaranteed his team's victory. Namath, who completed 17 out of 28 passes for 206 yards, was named as the Super Bowl's most valuable player.
The Super Bowl Champion Jets have signed this Riddell replica helmet with black marker, and notable signatures include Joe Namath (top right side of the helmet above the NY Jets logo in green), Emerson Boozer, Matt Snell, Don Maynard, and Earl Christy. Other signatures include Al Atkinson, Ralph Baker, Gerry Philbin, Bake Turner, Pete Lammons, Dave Herman, John Schmidt, Bob Talamini, Randy Rasmussen, Paul Rochester, Carl McAdams, Larry Grantham, Bill Baird, Cornell Gordon, Randy Beverly, John Dockery, Paul Crane, Jeff Richardson, and Mike D'Amato. This helmet comes with a COA from Steiner Sports.
