The early history of the New York Mets was defined by futility, finishing below .500 every season from their inaugural year in 1962 until 1968. This all changed in 1969, when the Mets raced to a 100-62 season, setting up a matchup with the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles in the World Series. The Mets shocked the world, defeating the Orioles in five games thanks to their pitching staff of Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan, Jerry Koosman, and Gary Gentry.
This William D. White Official National League baseball has been signed by nine members of the ’69 Mets, including Hall of Famers Ryan and Seaver, with Ryan’s signature appearing on the sweet spot. Other signatures include Tug McGraw, Jerry Koosman, Gary Gentry, Jim McAndrew, Don Cardwell, Jack DiLauro, and Ron Taylor. These signatures have been written in blue pen. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC03321).
