Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was awarded this UCLA Bruins Most Valuable Player trophy after his senior campaign in 1969. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, was one of the most dominant players in college basketball during his three years in Westwood. The Bruins won their third straight NCAA title in 1969, with Abdul-Jabbar claiming the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player for the third straight season. Abdul-Jabbar was also the recipient of the Naismith College Player of the Year award in its inaugural season thanks to his incredible per game averages of 24 points and 14.7 rebounds per game.
This offered trophy stands just shy of 27 inches tall. The trophy begins with a cylindrical pedestal raising up a silver colored stem and gold colored trophy cup. The cup is etched with “UCLA / Most Valuable Player / 1969 / Lewis Alcindor”. An 8.5-inch statuette of a basketball player tops this historically significant trophy. This trophy exhibits minor weathering, but is in otherwise fantastic condition. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
