The big center played in all 82 games for Detroit where he averaged a respectable 15.6 points per game that laid the foundation for what would be a tremendous career. Presented here is one of the jerseys worn by Lanier during his rookie 1970-71 season. This home white Pistons jersey is a size 46 and made of a Durene-type material. The front of this jersey has “PISTONS” sewn on in red and blue tackle twill with Lanier’s number “16” sewn on below in blue with red shadow box tackle twill. The rounded collar and open sleeves have expandable knit blue/white/red/white/blue stripes and the back has Lanier’s “16” sewn on in the same blue and red shadow box tackle twill. The inside back left tail has a Rawlings size 46 tag, along with an East Side Sporting Goods Co. DETROIT tag and a wash instructions tag. This jersey displays heavy game use with various stains throughout, some fabric pulls and minor toning.
