New York Yankees catcher Thurman Munson was one of the best players in baseball during the 1970’s, making seven All-Star teams and winning the 1976 American League MVP Award. In 1976, Munson was named the first captain of the Yankees since Lou Gehrig held that position in 1939. Munson, the 1970 American League Rookie of the Year, played his entire career for the Yankees, winning three Gold Gloves and World Series titles in 1977 and 1978.
Offered here is a navy Yankees ballcap worn by Thurman Munson circa 1970-76. This cap has the Yankees interlocking “NY” logo sewn on the front in white. The cap was made by KM Pro and is a size 7. Munson’s number “15”, which the Yankees retired immediately after his death in 1979, has been written on the underside of the brim in black marker. This cap shows moderate wear and comes with a LOA from MEARS (316048) for game use.
