Legendary basketball star “Pistol Pete” Maravich starred in college at Louisiana State University while playing for his father, head coach Press Maravich from the 1967-1968 season through the 1969-1970 season. He is the all-time leading NCAA Division I scorer with 3,667 points scored and an average of 44.2 points per game. All his accomplishments were achieved before the adoption of the three-point line and shot clock, and despite being unable to play varsity as a freshman under then-NCAA rules. One of the youngest players ever inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Maravich was cited by the Hall as "perhaps the greatest creative offensive talent in history".

Presented is an LSU Basketball game program from February 18, 1970 with an inscription from Maravich on the front cover and the signatures of xx of his Tigers teammates. Maravich has signed his name “’Pistol’ Pete” in blue pen on the front cover. Notable signatures include Apple Sanders and Tommy Hess (in red marker), Bill Newton, Dan Hester and Jeff Tribbett (in black pen), and assistant coach Jay McCreary (in black pen). The 8½ x 11-inch game program is white paper with black printing, and red accents and background on the front and back covers. The LSU Tigers beat the Georgia Bulldogs that night, 88-86 in the SEC contest at Parker A.G. Center. Maravich, who would be named the consensus College Basketball Player of the Year, scored 37 points on 17 for 34 shooting from the field and dished off six assists. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
