The decorated Chilean sweeper and center back Elias Ricardo Figueroa Brander wore this Sport Club Internacional jersey during the 1970’s. Figueroa scored the most famous goal in Internacional history during the 1975 Brasileirao final against Cruzeiro, elevating into a beam of light cast over the pitch to score a thudding headed goal in Inter’s famous 1-0 win over Cruzeiro. This victory gave Inter their first Brasileirao title and is known as the “Illuminated Goal” for the almost heavenly light surrounding Inter’s talisman and captain as he scored the goal.

Figueroa made more than 300 appearances for the colorado, scoring 27 league goals and winning the Brazilian Player of the Year award in 1972 and 1976. El Iluminado earned 47 caps for the Chilean National Soccer Team and played in the 1966, 1974, and 1982 FIFA World Cup tournaments with Chile. Figueroa was named the best Chilean player of the 20th century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics and remains held in high regard by the Porto Alegre faithful.

This offered Internacional jersey is red with white accents. Figueroa’s number “3” is sewn on the back of the jersey in white tackle twill. A circular Internacional crest is sewn on the front of this historic jersey. This comes with a LOA from 100% Authentic. Please note the 100% Authentic Letter describes this shirt as Team-Issued and states "During this era, there were not many replicas or samples. More than likely the shirt would have been worn by Figueroa." The shirt comes with a letter of provenance from Marcel Alejandro Pesce Arremon, who states in his letter that this jersey "was received by me from Brander’s manager of the time, Mr. Schneider who handled his transfers. Brander transferred from Athletic Club Peñarol to the International Sport Club Porto Alegre. It was a player's gift for his friend."
