Named for long time NHL President Clarence C. Campbell, the Campbell Bowl trophy is presented annually to the Western Conference Playoff Champions. This 11” Campbell Cup Trophy was presented to Chicago Blackhawks center Hubert “Pit” Martin as a member of the 1971-1972 NHL West champions. A 20-year veteran and four-time NHL All-Star (1971, 1972,1973 and 1974) Martin had his best season in 1972 setting career-highs with 61 assists and 90 points scoring 10 goals in the playoffs as the Blackhawks advanced all the way to the Stanley Cup finals. Martin’s nickname “Pit” is derived from his likeness to a comic strip character appearing in French newspapers. He died in a snowmobile accident on a lake near Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec at the age of 65 in 2008. This handsome trophy cup with removable lid mounted on a wooden base has “Clarence S. Campbell Bowl 1968” engraved on one side and “Chicago Blackhawks 1971-1972 Hubert Martin” engraved on the other side.
