By the early 1970s, Pete Rose was the face of the Cincinnati Reds. Even with a team loaded with all-stars and future Hall of Famers, Rose stood out due to his unrivaled drive to win at all costs. He was model of consistency, always good for a batting average in the .300 range and he was able to come through time and again when it counted most. The 1971 season saw the Big Red Machine re-tooling from their 1970 World Series loss to Baltimore, yet Rose hit a consistent .304. The next summer the Reds regained their pennant-winning momentum, and Rose hit .307 and led the NL in hits. This gamer, used during the 1971 and 1972 seasons, has been signed twice by the Reds superstar, once in pen and again in marker. The Hillerich & Bradsby S222 model bat shows excellent use with a handle crack. Ball marks are visible as are blue bat rack paint streaks.
