Ferguson ”Fergie” Jenkins, the Canadian born pitcher, made a name for himself in the Majors, most notably during his time with the Chicago Cubs. He became the first Canadian to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and he would become a three-time All-Star and finished his career with over 3,000 strike outs. The featured cap was worn during his historic 1971 season, where he would become the first Canadian and Cub’s pitcher to win a Cy Young Award. The hat is a Wilson size 7 3/8 all blue Chicago Cubs hat that has the Cubs “C” on the front in red and white. He has signed this cap in silver ink on the brim and inscribed “HOF 91”. The underside of the brim features drawn stars and crowns and is again inscribed “HOF 91” and “1971”, as well as signed all in black ink. On the underside of the back sweatband, are the size "7/3/8" and a three-digit code "DZC". The "D" represents the year "1" for "1971", the "Z" is for the month it was manufactured (January) and "C" is for "Cap". This cap comes with a LOA signed by Ferguson Jenkins, a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A52487) for Jenkins' signature on the hat, plus a COA from Beckett Authentication Services (Q26143) for the signature on the LOA.
