This bat dates to Ken Harrelson’s last season in the majors. Over the previous decade Harrelson starred for the A’s, Senators, and Red Sox before going to Cleveland in 1969. It was there with the Indians that he is credited with popularizing the modern batting glove. After he retired midway through the 1971 season, Harrelson took his glove and began a professional golfing career. This Hillerich & Bradsby L5 model bat is un-cracked and shows light use. A few ball marks are on the left barrel along with cleat imprints. There are a few red bat rack paint streaks in evidence plus the impression from a weighted batting donut. The model number “L5” is stamped into the knob and Harrelson’s number “40” is hand written in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15713) for the game use.
