In a selfless decision, 18 year-old “Big Daddy” Lattin turned down over three hundred college scholarships to sign with Tennessee State because the college offered to provide scholarships to four of his high school teammates as well. Leaving college early, Lattin was the NBA’s San Francisco Warriors first draft pick in 1967 and his 8 year career took him from the Warriors (1967-1968), to the Phoenix Suns (1968–1969) to the ABA’s Pittsburgh Condors (1970–1972) and Memphis Tams (1972–1973), from which this jersey dates. Very nice looking Memphis Tams jersey from the team’s first season after being bought by Charles O. Finley, owner of the Oakland A’s and the California Golden Seals. Using the same green and gold colors as his two other sports teams, “MEMPHIS” appears across the front and Lattin’s number “22” is on both the front and the back in tackle twill. Rawlings size 46 wash instruction tag is sewn on the left front tail. Next to that is a smaller white tag with “2” LONGER” typed on it and next to that is the “ALL AMERICAN INCORPORATED” distributors tag. Lattin has signed the front of the jersey in black marker just below his number “22” with the inscription “MY GAME WORN JERSEY 1972-1973”. A sharp looking jersey from the last season of David Lattin’s career and a Finley’s first as an ABA team owner. This jersey originates from the Basketball Hall of Fame collection and includes a letter of authenticity from the Basketball Hall of Fame An additional letter of authenticity is also included.
