Offered is a rare program book from the Muhammad Ali vs. Mac Foster boxing match held in Tokyo, Japan in April 1, 1972.  The 11 ½ x 16 ½-inch program is 24 pages (20 interior pages).  The front cover features a red and green image of Ali shouting with Japanese characters to the left of his face, superimposed over a purple and white photograph of a crowd of people.  Superimposed over Ali’s chest are images of Foster in boxing trunks (left) and Ali with his boxing gloves on (right).  At the bottom of the front cover is the legend “MUHAMMAD ALI A.K.A. Cassius Clay vs. MAC FOSTER” to the left side, with “ali” in a stylized font in the center, and “world heavy-weight boxing match 15R 1972-4-1 NIPPON BUDOKAN” to the bottom right. The interior of the program book features black and white and color photos and printing, with the majority of the text in Japanese.  There is a reproduction of a handwritten letter from Ali on the first interior page, and a handwritten letter from his father, Cassius Clay Sr., on the 2nd interior page.  Muhammad Ali and Mac Foster fought each other in a 15-round bout in Tokyo on April 1, 1972. Ali won the fight on points through a unanimous decision.  The non-title heavyweight bout was the first between ranking heavyweights ever staged in Asia and drew 15,000 to the Budokan Auditorium. This item is in very good condition.
