Oakland Athletics catcher Gene Tenace wore this white A’s home pullover during the 1972 MLB season. Tenace, not yet a regular in the starting nine, appeared in 82 games, hitting five homers with 32 RBI as the A’s made the first of their three consecutive World Series appearances. Tenace starred for the A’s in the Fall Classic, hitting .348 with four homers and nine RBI as the A’s took the World Series in seven games from the Cincinnati Reds. This pullover jersey has “A’s” and Tenace’s number “38” sewn on the chest in yellow and green tackle twill. A second “38” is sewn on the back of the jersey in yellow and green tackle twill, while “TENACE” is sewn across the back shoulders in green tackle twill that has been restored. A McAuliffe tag, a size “42” tag, and a washing instructions tag are sewn on the front tail. This jersey comes with a LOA from MEARS, who have assigned the jersey a grade of A8.
