Oakland Athletics pitcher Ken Holtzman wore this yellow A’s alternate jersey during the 1972 MLB season, his first with the A’s. Holtzman joined the A’s from the Cubs in exchange for Rick Monday, and immediately became one of the gems of Oakland’s terrific starting rotation. Holtzman made his first career All-Star Game in 1972, finishing the year with a 19-11 record and a 2.51 ERA. Holtzman continued his fine play in the postseason, winning the first game of the World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. He finished the Fall Classic with three appearances, including two starts, and a 2.13 ERA.

The offered Athletics jersey is a yellow pullover, with “A’s” and Holtzman’s number “30” sewn on the chest in white and green tackle twill. “HOLTZMAN” is sewn on the back of the jersey in green tackle twill above a second “30”, sewn on the jersey in white and green tackle twill. The sleeves of this jersey are accented with three green stripes, and a green-white-green band accents the collar. McAuliffe, size “44”, and washing instructions tags are sewn on the front tail of this visually stunning jersey. Please note that the player name on the back of this jersey has been restored. This jersey shows moderate use and comes with a LOA from MEARS, who have graded this jersey a solid A8.
