After spending the first seven years of his career with the Cincinnati Reds, Lee May joined the Houston Astros in 1972. Lee would spend three seasons in Houston and during the final two years of 1973 and 1974, May would combine for 52 home runs and 190 RBI while batting .269. May used this Hillerich & Bradsby R161 model bat during the 1973 and 1974 seasons. This bat displays outstanding use and is un-cracked. There are numerous ball marks, stitch impressions and cleat imprints present on the barrel. The handle has a moderate coating of pine tar and the knob has “R161” stamped with May’s number “23” hand written in black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15219) and has been graded a perfect GU 10.
