At first glance this bat – a Hillerich & Bradsby C276 which was one of Roberto Clemente’s unused final bat order - is a poignant reminder of what might have been. The Pirates legend perished on New Year’s Eve, 1972 while bringing earthquake relief supplies to Nicaragua and he was never able to put the bats in his final Louisville Slugger order to use. The presence of the signatures of 14 Hall of Famers on this piece turns this bat into a tremendous tribute to one of the game’s most revered and respected players. The range of Hall of Famers transcends the eras: Harry Hooper, George Kelly, Jesse Haines, Stanley Covaleski and Waite Hoyt from the Roaring 20’s; Joe Medwick, Luke Appling, Ted Lyons, Bill Terry, Red Ruffing, and Lefty Grove from the 1930’s; Warren Spahn from the 1950’s and Buck Leonard from the Negro Leagues. A one of a kind tribute from a group of legendary Hall of Famers to one of their own. This bat comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13698) and an LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A08410) for the signatures.
