Offered is a 1973 New York Mets button-down road jersey worn by George Theodore, who spent two seasons with the club. In 1973, Theodore appeared in 45 games and hit one home run, had 15 RBI and batted .259. This jersey has “Mets” sewn across the chest in blue and orange tackle twill. This jersey was recycled to the minor leagues as evidence by the remnants of the “NEW YORK” outline on the chest, which was the style used by the team in 1973. The number “9” is sewn on the center left chest in blue and orange tackle twill. There is blue piping that runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons. There is an off-white inner lining that also runs around the collar and down the center. There is a gray team strip tag that reads “9 73 42” with the “73” having an “X” through it. The back of this Wilson size 42 jersey has the number “9” sewn on in blue and orange tackle twill. The left sleeve has the Mets’ skyline logo patch sewn on and the Wilson size 42 tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. Hall of Famer Joe Torre has signed his name on this jersey below the “M” on the front of the jersey in black marker. Torre joined the Mets in 1975 and wore number “9”. This jersey displays moderate use and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema and a LOA from PSA/DNA (Q07269) for Torre’s signature.
