Jack Dempsey was a boxer non-pareil in the early 20th century. A thunderous heavyweight, Dempsey was the most popular boxer of his era and the star of the first one million dollar gate. After Dempsey retired in 1927, he invested himself in business pursuits, including his famous New York restaurant, Jack Dempsey’s International Restaurant.
This item is a menu from Dempsey’s restaurant. It is the Friday, February 23rd, 1973 edition of the menu. The restaurant, which opened in 1935, would close its doors the following year. Dempsey signed the front cover of the restaurant, inscribing “Best of Luck” and “1973.” His signature and the inscriptions were written in black marker. This item comes with a PSA/DNA LOA (Q09232).
