Absolutely gorgeous Louisville Slugger bat from the rookie season of Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter. This Hillerich & Bradsby model K55 bat carries the 1973 labeling and the knob has been marked with the number “57” Carter wore during his 1974 rookie season with the Expos. The number has been over-printed with his more familiar 1975 and later number “8” in silver ink. The handle has a light coat of pine tar and shows evidence of a crack that has been repaired. The bat has various stitch impressions, ball marks and cleat marks as well as red bat rack streaks. All-in-all a very striking bat from the popular catcher’s first years in the majors. Letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
