Hall of Famer John Stallworth was an all-conference receiver out of Alabama A&M, and was part of the historic 1974 NFL draft where the Steelers drafted four future Hall of Famers. Stallworth was the embodiment of the tough Steelers’ persona, stoically working through an endless stream of injuries to help Pittsburgh win four Super Bowl championships. Twice he was named the team’s MVP and during his 14-year career he set several franchise records (since broken).

This classic Pittsburgh Steelers home jersey dates to Stallworth’s rookie year in the Steel City, when he was a 22 year-old college kid looking to prove himself worthy of wearing the black and gold. The black home jersey has Stallworth’s number “82” on the front and shoulders in white tackle twill and two Sand-Knit/Pittsburgh Steelers size 46 labels are sewn in the front left tail. This jersey can be dated to Stallworth's rookie season based on the design of the Sand-Knit tag, which was carried over from the late 1960s and early 1970s design. The back has a black nameplate with “STALLWORTH” in yellow tackle twill above his number “82” in white tackle twill. Stallworth has signed the “8” in black marker adding “HOF 02.” The jersey shows tremendous game use, with abrasion scuffs and contact snags throughout. There are several clubhouse repairs, most noticeably above the “2” on the front of the jersey. The lettering shows puckering from contact and laundering and there are many loose threads throughout. This jersey completely embodies the hard-nosed football played every Sunday by those 1970’s Steelers teams. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema and a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication. This jersey was obtained directly from the Pittsburgh Steelers as part of a charity auction in 2014.
