The 1974 Los Angeles Dodgers had the best record in all of baseball with a 102-60 record, winning the NL West division by four games over the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers would dispatch the Pittsburgh Pirates in four games of he best-of-five NLCS and faced the two-time defending World Series champion Oakland A’s in the 1974 Fall Classic. The Dodgers would lose the series in five games to the playoff-seasoned Oakland team as the A’s would win their third straight World Series title – an achievement that would not be matched until the late 1990’s New York Yankees.
