The 1975 Boston Red Sox saw the emergence of future Hall of Famer Jim Rice and soon-to-be first ever Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season Fred Lynn. “The Gold Dust Twins” helped lead Boston to the American League pennant, which included a three-game sweep of the three-time defending World Champion Oakland A’s in the ALCS. The only thing that doomed the 1975 Boston Red Sox was the Big Red Machine of the Cincinnati Reds, who needed seven games to defeat the Red Sox in what has been widely regarded as one of the greatest World Series of all time.

25 members of the 1975 American League champions have signed this Official American League Lee MacPhail baseball. All of the signatures have been signed in blue ballpoint pen features the signature of manager Darrell Johnson on the sweet spot. The north panel has the signatures of Dick Drago, Don Zimmer, Eddie Popowski, Rick Wise and Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski. The east panel has the signatures of Hall of Famer Jim Rice, Rico Petrocelli, Cecil Cooper, Charles McCoy, Fred Lynn and Bernie Carbo. The south panel has the signatures of Dwight Evans, Diego Segui, Rick Burleson, Denny Doyle and Boe Heise. The west panel has the signatures of Bill Lee, Don Bryant, Jim Burton, Stan Williams, Rick Miller, Tim Blackwell and Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk. There is an additional signature of Carl Yastrzemski that is signed over the commissioner’s stamp, but that has been deemed a clubhouse version. The ball is in good condition only appearing slightly toned and the signatures are clear. This baseball comes with a LOA from JSA (X88542).
