Graig Nettles hit 32 home runs, Mickey Rivers batted .312 with 43 stolen bases, and Roy White scored 104 runs. On the mound, Ed Figueroa won 19 games with a 3.02 ERA. Catfish Hunter and Dock Ellis each added 17 wins. New York defeated the Kansas City Royals 3-2 to win the American League Championship Series before falling to the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series.
