For two decades, Don Sutton was one of the most successful pitchers in the National League. His right arm pitched his Dodgers to two National League pennants and won 324 games. At the plate was a whole different story – in 1976, the season this bat dates to, Sutton hit .083, something his 23 wins more than made up for. The bat has impeccable provenance as it was given to Dodgers batboy Stephen Kolodny, whose signed LOA accompanies the bat. This Hillerich & Bradsby R43 model bat shows heavy use and has been cracked. There is an 8-inch long surface area loss on the back barrel with checking from repeated ball contact and Sutton’s number “20” has been hand written on the knob. A crisscross pattern of adhesive tape has been applied to the handle to enhance the grip. The barrel carries the special Bi-centennial stamping used only on bats manufactured during 1976. The bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B12638) for the game use and a signed LOA from former Dodgers batboy Stephen Kolodny.
