One of the seven original "Not Ready for Prime Time Players," Gilda Radner was the first comedian cast for the inaugural season of "Saturday Night Live." The sketch show featured future comedic legends Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Laraine Newman, Jane Curtin, and Garrett Morris and forever altered the comedy landscape when it debuted in 1975, with Radner creating such memorable characters as "Baba Wawa," a parody of Barbara Walters, and "Roseanne Roseannadanna" a hilarious parody of New York reporter Rose Ann Scamardella. Radner parodied multiple celebrities like Lucille Ball and Patti Smith during her tenure at SNL and earned an Emmy Award in 1978 for her work on the show. Radner continues to influence comedians to this day, and her legacy can still be felt on SNL.

This presented contract is between Radner and NBC in regards to her performance on SNL. The contract is dated September 29th, 1976, and is addressed to Radner and her agent, Buddy Moora. The contract is amended from her initial 1975 agreement and spells out her compensation cycles and raises. Her starting pay per episode was $1200, culminating with Radner making $2000 per episode by the tenth cycle. The contract guarantees payment for a minimum of 11 programs and illuminates the negotiating process between talent and management regarding payment for services rendered. The deal is signed by Joseph E. Bures, Senior Administrator Program and Talent Negotiation, and Gilda Radner on the contract's second page. Bures signed the contract in black ink with a penpoint pen, and Radner signed a pen in black ink. The contract is in good condition, with some toning and cornering occurring on each page's top-left corner. The signed contract comes with a COA From PSA/DNA (C24547).
