Jim Kaat already had 235 career wins when he joined the Philadelphia Phillies in 1976. This game used home jersey from Kaat’s first year in Philadelphia is zip-front, white with red pinstripes, sporting the Phillies “P” logo on the left breast and the #39 on the right breast. The right sleeve has some loose red stitching where the ’76 NL Centennial patch was removed. On the back you’ll find a red 39, while above the numbers you can see a faint outline of where Kaat’s nameplate has also been removed. The inside collar reads “Kaat”,, and the Wilson manufacturer’s label, size 46, is present on the front left tail, above a smaller patch reading “46 76 1”. Jersey shows moderate wear, and Jim Kaat has signed just above the manufacturer’s tag. This item is accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA, as well as a LOA from noted game use expert Dave Miedema.
