Rick Monday is best remembered for saving the American flag from being burned in Dodger Stadium during the American Bicentennial. On April 25th, 1976 – Dodger Stadium, in the fourth inning of a game between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers, Cubs outfielder Rick Monday observed two unruly fans sprint onto the field and douse an American Flag in lighter fluid and tried to set ablaze. Monday came from behind them and swiped the flag off the ground before they could do so. Presented here is a ticket stub from that game, a field box seat which a fan watched United States Marine Rick Monday save the US Flag. Ticket remains in EX condition with minor surface wear.
