Perhaps no game used bats from the 1976-1981 Yankees Dynasty are as sought after or scarcer than those of their captain, Thurman Munson. It was the team’s backstop that provided both the on-field and clubhouse leadership that drove the Bronx Bombers to back-to-back World Championships in 1977-1978. Munson and the Yankees were in the midst of another pennant drive when he perished in a plane crash in 1979, aged just 32. This Hillerich & Bradsby S44 model bat was used by Munson during those last three seasons before his untimely death. The Hillerich & Bradsby S44 model bat shows light use with several ball scuffs on the barrel along with bat rack paint streaks and cleat imprints throughout. This bat come with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B02821) for the game use.
