The Cleveland Barons shelf life was a very short one, surviving in the National Hockey League for only two years (the 1977 and 1978 seasons). Formerly the California Golden Seals, their time in the NHL officially came to an end when they merged with the Minnesota North Stars. Cleveland finished in fourth place in each season of existence, recording point totals of 63 in 1977 and 57 in 1978. Among the list of Barons alumni are Giles Meloche, Dave Gardner, Bob Murdoch, Wayne Merrick and Al MacAdam.
