Despite being hampered early in his career by the cavernous dimensions of Forbes Field, Willie Stargell was one of the greatest sluggers of his day. When the Pirates moved to Three Rivers Stadium, Stargell’s career numbers improved, eventually reaching 475 home runs and 1,540 RBIs. Stargell used this bat in the two seasons preceding the Pirates famous 1979 “We Are Family” World Championship. Stargell’s 1977-78 Hillerich & Bradsby P89 model bat is un-cracked and has been made game ready. Pop’s number “8” is hand written on the knob in gold marker. This bat comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13751) for the game use.
