Gene Tenace was the backstop on the Oakland A’s club that won three consecutive World Championships in 1972, 1973 and 1974. Since Charlie O. Finley was notoriously stingy, it was no wonder Tenace eagerly entered the newly instituted re-entry draft in 1977. Tenace and his battery mate Rollie Fingers landed with the Padres and the catcher continued post numbers that placed him near the top of both offensive and defensive categories for his position. This Hillerich & Bradsby P89 model bat is un-cracked and shows excellent use. Tenace has signed the barrel in black marker adding his number “18”. This bat comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14121) for the game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature (A81852).
