Encapsulated and graded EX+/NM 75 by AFA. “Star Wars: Episode IV-A New Hope” premiered to commercial and critical acclaim when it was released on May 25, 1977. Fans lined up to watch Luke Skywalker learn the ways of the Force while aiding Princess Leia and Obi-Wan Kenobi in their struggle against Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire. The public clamored for the toys based on the hit science-fiction film, but Kenner, who held the toy licensing rights to the film, could not supply the demand in 1977, missing the crucial Christmas holiday. The toy company would ramp up production in 1978, producing 40 million action figures, vehicles, and toys from the movie and earning $100 million in revenue.
Offered here is a sealed and graded 12 Back-A "Blonde Hair" variation Luke Skywalker action figure. The 12 Back-A variation includes illustrations of the first 12 figures, images of a Tie Fighter, X-Wing, and Landspeeder, and instructions on how to use the telescoping lightsaber feature. The 12 Back-A also includes the “Action Figure Stand” offer, good for two proofs of purchase and $2.00. AFA Subgrades: C75, B80, and F75. This offered Luke Skywalker figure is from the first production, which only increases the value. The figure comes with the grade of EX+/NM 75 by AFA.
