Drafted out of Colorado State, Al Baker dominated opposing left tackles in recording an unofficial 23 sacks his rookie year of 1978. He was voted the defensive rookie of the year in the NFL and also the NFC rookie of the year. Earl Campbell took both AFC and offensive honors. The size 10/25 gram 10K gold ring has a large CZ diamond in the middle surrounded by 14 smaller CZ diamonds. The one shank has “NFC” with his name “BAKER”, the year “1978” and his team “DETROIT LIONS” with their logo. The other shank has “NFC” with the conference logo and “ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.” Inside is “LGB 10K.” in 2007, Al Baker was voted as the 8th greatest pass rusher in NFL history, and this is the ring he was awarded during his greatest year, his 1978 rookie season.
