For the second season in a row, the Los Angeles Dodgers won both the National League Western Division and the National League pennant. Led by Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda, the 1978 Dodgers won their division by three games and defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 in the NLCS only to lose to the New York Yankees for the second straight year in the World Series. The Dodgers were led by Steve Garvey and Rick Monday, who were both named starters in the All-Star Game, with Ron Cey, Tommy John, Davey Lopes and Reggie Smith all earning all-star selections.

17 members of the National League champion Los Angeles Dodgers have signed this Official 1978 World Series stamped baseball. Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda signed his name on the sweet spot. Other signatures include Hall of Famer Don Sutton, Steve Garvey, Charlie Hough, Dusty Baker, Davey Lopes, Ron Cey, Johnny Oates, Rick Monday, Preston Gomez, Doug Rau, Joe Ferguson, Red Adams and others. This multi-signed baseball comes with a LOA from JSA (BB34312).
