After a fierce bidding war, Pete Rose became a member of the Philadelphia Phillies prior to the 1979 season. Playing first base, he batted .331, and the next season led the Phillies to their first World Championship. Here are two important pieces of Rose memorabilia from his early days with the Philadelphia franchise. Includes:
Signed Game Worn Jacket – Inside the neck of this jacket is a "Wilson" size "44" label. On the front is the Phillies’s stylized "P" logo, and the player name, "ROSE," is seen on the back in a white, block-lettered nameplate. Rose’s thick, black-marker signature appears above his name on the back. The jacket shows light game wear and reflects exceptional condition. LOA from MEARS.
Single Signed Game Used All-Star Ball – This 1981 Official All-Star Game (Kuhn) ball, from the contest held in Cleveland's Municipal Stadium, shows plenty of dirt and scuff marks attributable to that venue. On a side panel, Rose’s abundantly clear, blue ballpoint signature and inscription read, “Pete Rose / 8/9/81 / Municipal Stad. / A.S. Game.” LOA from JSA
